Self-Care and Mindfulness During the Pandemic and Beyond
This workshop provides an introduction to using mindfulness to manage stress and life demands, as well provide ways to use these techniques with children and the entire family.
Jill M. Emanuele, PhD is the senior director of the Mood Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. She has a breadth of experience in the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, young adults, and adults with mood disorders, as well as the spectrum of psychiatric disorders, with a special focus on complex presentations. Dr. Emanuele has expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy and mindfulness training, and she has experience with diverse populations of children, adolescents and their families.
Dr. Emanuele is intensively trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), with 18 years of experience in providing individual and group DBT to adolescents and their families, while supervising and teaching students and clinicians in providing DBT services. Dr. Emanuele is also intensively trained in a new adaptation of DBT for children and preadolescents. In addition, she has presented at academic medical centers, professional conferences, public and private schools, and community organizations on the topics of mindfulness, adolescent depression and suicide, adolescent self-injury, DBT, and adolescent borderline personality disorder, and co-authored book chapters on some of these important topics.
Dr. Emanuele is dedicated to increasing public education and disseminating empirically supported treatments for mood and anxiety disorders, and mindfulness-based interventions. She is devoted to providing children and adolescents exceptional treatment that builds a strong foundation for growth, self-discovery and success in every individual.

Self-Care for a Diverse Workforce: One Size Does Not Fit All
During this informative session, participants will learn how creating opportunities and space for self-care is more than a one size fits all, especially with a diverse workforce.
Jasmin Carnelus is a California based Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Qualified Substance Use Disorder Professional under the Department of Transportation. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Howard University and a master’s degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University. Since the beginning of her time as a practicing therapist, Jasmin has worked with many different populations in residential and outpatient settings, but her passion is in the field of substance use disorder. She has worked with pregnant and postpartum women trying to maintain sobriety and currently works in the field of aviation. Jasmin’s ultimate goal is to help others navigate the trials and tribulations of life and come to a point where they are thriving and living authentically. Jasmin is a PsyD candidate focusing on therapy in the Black community. She is passionate about issues facing the community and is dedicated to shifting the stigma surrounding mental health. In addition to her work in aviation, Jasmin also works with clients via the online therapy platform, Talkspace. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, attending music concerts and musicals.

Ashley Skeen, RYT200
Ashley Skeen has been teaching yoga for nine years. In 2018, she took her business independent and started teaching mainly private groups, mostly focusing on using her trauma sensitive training. Currently she is the yoga instructor for the Huntington police and fire departments and for a group of veterans at the VA.
